Re: Arrangement/Mixing/Production competition: When The Sun Grows Cold

We have put together a fantastic competition for any one who fancies not only mixing but pretty much producing a track for radio. Chris Ford’s current single When The Sun Grows Cold is currently play listed on commercial radio and BBC radio around the UK. The track in its present form is an acoustic song, but we have decided to offer the opportunity for anyone to put together and arrangement and mix of the track. As the song is an acoustic guitar and vocal track at present you can do almost anything with it. You could add strings, add bass, mix some beats with it, lay down some guitars, be that electric or acoustic or both or even add backing vocals. Pretty much anything. You could even take it in an electronica direction by simply striping the acoustic guitar out and using the vocal line. The possibilities are endless. We are looking for 3 definitive arrangements and mixes of the track which we will then put together on CD/Vinyl and download along with the original acoustic version of the song. Before the tracks are released we are going to ask people to vote which version of the song they think is most suitable for radio. For the winning arrangements/mixes we are offering the following: 5% of all retail revenue, be that CD/Vinyl or downloads flowing from the track they arrange and mix, plus 10% of the PRS and music publishing income of that version of the song. It is the first time a mix competition has ever offered a proportion of the music publishing and PRS on a track, but we want people to be properly rewarded for their efforts. When you have completed the arrangement/mix send an MP3 of the track to info@track37recordings.co.uk. Please make sure we have your correct contact details. Once the tracks are selected we will contact you and invite you down to the studio where we will put together your arrangement/ mix with the original mastered track. The release date for this project is June 30th so if you can send us your finished tracks by June 16th that would be great.
