SQL DBA - SQL / T-SQL / IIS
My client, a market leading financial/insurance based organisation and Microsoft Gold Partner, urgently requires a skilled SQL Server DBA to play a pivotal part within the full SDLC of key business systems. A passionate SQL DBA who has strong analysis skills along with a good understanding of development skills would be ideal. Applicants will ideally have an expert database deign, development and maintenance skills with SQL Server 2003/2005 and a strong knowledge of T-SQL including triggers and stored procedures.
The successful applicant would be responsible for managing all the database requirements within the company and working closely with the development team ensuring all database changes are evaluated, tested, documented and deployed. A strong understanding of IIS and Windows Server is essential, experience of working in a .NET environment or exposure to SQL Server Reporting Services would be highly beneficial. Also any previous commercial experience with Debian, Apache or Business Intelligence using SQL Server OLAP Cubes would be advantageous but by no means essential.
Experience in as many of the following areas as possible is beneficial:
* Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2003/2005 (design, development and maintenance)
* T-SQL (including Triggers)
* Indexing (clustered, non-clustered)
* Primary/Foreign key relationships (including constraints)
* SQL transactions
* Transaction Logs
* Microsoft SQL Server Database Maintenance (including re-indexing and backup strategies)
* Microsoft SQL Server replication between different database instances
* Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services
* IIS 6.0/7.0 setup and permissions (including certificate authentication)
* Good understanding of IIS 6.0/7.0 application pools
* Good understanding of web.config files
* Good understanding of .NET deployment processes
* Good understanding of .NET framework run-time requirements (including manifest files, versioning issues, app.config, web.config)
* Windows Server 2003 / 2008 (administration/maintenance)
* Active Directory (Permissions/Group Policies)
As an organisation there are a team of 100 staff, however the successful applicant will be working within a technical team of 15. The successful applicant will be joining an organisation that are firm believers in employee development and progression. As you will be working closely with a talented technical team you would be responsible to liaise with others and document work so exceptional communication skills both written and verbal are essential.
