I have lived in Beijing - studied Mandarin at Beijing University and also at degree level (I studied PPE with Mandarin at Exeter University). This background means I have a great understanding of the difficulties in learning Mandarin and how best to teach - I have experimented with a number of different methods to learn Mandarin myself. I believe I am better suited to teach Mandarin than a native mandarin speaker who hasn't gone through, and doesnt understand this learning process themselves.

I have taught English in China for a year and this has given me a great understanding with the relationship between languages. I am also the co-author of the book: [gaozhong yingyu zuowen quanjie] which has sold over 50,000 copies within 6 months. I have recently graduated from University and have been teaching various friends, and family friends who are learning Mandarin. Through their successful lessons, and enjoyment of watching them progress - I have realised my ability for teaching Mandarin!

I am passionate about Mandarin and enjoy creating fun lessons - I think this is the best way to learn! In the first lesson we will formulate a learning plan. This will involve a plan of how to cover the key aspects of Mandarin - learning the key sounds, learning the characters, reading and writing, conversation (which will involve combined lessons with native Chinese speakers - all included) and we will discuss how best to learn and what level you want to achieve - from holiday conversational, for a business trip, GCSE level to ultimate fluency!
